If You Love (or least lived with) Something, Set it Free

The key to being a good "junker" or vintage afficionado of the many trash treasures out there is to be a great recycler or purger of stuff.

You cannot be a hoarder or your whole house ends up looking trashy.

If you are a hoarder.....cure that first before you start collecting!

I'm not telling you something you don't know already.   I bet there are some of you thinking, gee she's right!  I should get busy cleaning my closets and garage or basement now.  I would be happier.  My family would be happier.  And I would deal with stuff that is long overdue.

For every rummage sale purchase or Freecycle find I get rid of at least one thing.  More likely, I get rid of several things.  Note the bags on the porch bench - picked up last night by a young lady setting up her first home!  I am glad to clean some cupboards and she was thrilled to have new pots, pans, mixing bowls, etc.

This was a freecycle find.  I think it will be flying the home nest soon.  Maybe I will save the platter and give away the tureen.  Can't think of the last time I ever made soup and served it in a tureen.  I should do a Tablescape Tueday post with it and then bye bye!

These were from Linens and Things item - $19.99 each piece!

When stuff is free it is so easy to let go :)

This framed Japan print is going to be hung in my tower so it's a keeper.  Just have to finish doing the fresh paint and then up it goes.  No price tag, but by the quality of the print and the weight of the frame I am guessing $40 when new.  Free to me!

Another freebie is this birdcage mirror.  It's kind of weird, but kind of cute.  It still has the Garden Ridge tag - $29.99.   I think it will survive being at our house through Halloween and then bye bye.  I plan to put a fake crow in it and put it out on the porch mixed in with the pumpkins.  Cute right?  Should I repaint it?

This World Market trunk is brand new - freecycled to me.  It may be a keeper for magazines.  It might be cute to store a couple of blankets in by the sofa this winter.  I don't have a price tag, but based on the price of other stuff I am thinking about $50.00 when new.

For sure, the idea of putting heavy woven fabric or even burlap seed bags would be great on a trunk or basket lid - picked up a craft idea there in addition to scoring a useful freebie.

Any other ideas for it's use?  I'm open to suggestions.  If you live in St Louis you are welcome to the tureen or the birdcage mirror!  And if you really want - I will be nice and let you have the platter too!
